How a bunch of old(?) farts becomes a Band

Phase 1 - The Search for a Band

We are all professionals with full-time day-gigs. While we have always loved music, our lives have spanned careers, marriage, children, divorce, and what-the-hell - ended up back into music to soothe and end our week of 9-5 with the ultimate therapy: playing music. Hey, this is FUN!

Each of us has spent years messing around and playing around with many friends and the idea of forming a band. We are not, any of us, kids with dreams of being rock stars. We just love to play, and this project began with the drummer searching for jam partners.

I (your host, and drummer) decided to return to music as a hobby, and began getting the rust out, practicing on my own with headphones. In the meantime, I began searching for others like myself, who wanted to jam for fun, with the possibility of eventually forming a working band.

As musicians searching for others to play with, we all kept our eyes on the bulletin boards at our local music store. I not only posted ads on those, but also placed an ad in the local free newspaper seeking jam partners.

After playing once or twice with various guys, we finally connected with each other through other people contacting Roosl (drums) and/or through one of my ads.

From our first night's jam, we knew there was something special...

Phase 2 - The Foundation

After a few weeks (of jam sessions), we decided we had the foundation for a band. This core group included Roosl, Tom, Kirk and Ron.

So, the foundation was found, and the search went on for our direction, and a name, as well as forming our play list, that is, the music that we want to dedicate ourselves to, and offer our audience...

Phase 3 - The Music and The Dedication

From the start, we knew that the core of our music would be classic rock, a little blues, and some new rock, and that certain songs which we all fell right into would be our base.

We dedicated ourselves to those songs, and spent many practice sessions just doing a list of them over and over, until we liked the way we had it down. You see, we don't play these songs exactly like the original was done. We are faithful to the the way the music was written, but we don't usually emulate the original recordings. We play them the way we feel them, and we know you'll like what you hear!

We've dedicated ourselves to ourselves - The Band, and to the music we enjoy and love to play.

Come hear us whenever you can. We know you'll love The Pulse. We've been playing local venues for some time now, and the word is spreading!

Play Dates and Locations

As we re-tool and prepare for new gigs, this space will look like this for a short time. Keep an eye on this spot!

If you're wanting to book us in your establishment, for your party, reunion, whatever, send us a note, and we'll get back to you!

We need you, our fans, to come on out and support the live music community! It's not just our loving to see you in the crowd - It's also about the bar owners who support live music that also need your business! Thank you!

We really hope to see you soon and often! Get out, down a few, and enjoy some live music!

Please note that due to the recent issues affecting the economy, some appearances scheduled could be cancelled or changed. Hopefully, that won't happen, but we've learned to keep the possibility in mind. Please check with us or the booked establishment to verify our appearance before hopping into the car!

(Schedule posted here)

Good times with the Pulse!

Lotsa folks dancing.. Lotsa folks having a good time! Rock and Roll! We B jammin' and rockin' your sox off! Come on out and have some fun! Live music is what U need!!

The Play List - Our Repertoire

Works and Re-works in progress!

Actually, we're working on more than listed here, but we decided to not publish all titles here as part of our playlist, in order to prepare for our advertised schedule of dates and locations.

What we show here is our ready and rehearsed playlist, planned to play for you. Many more are being worked on, and I'll add them here when we know that they're worth bragging about! We are very serious about our band and our music, and getting this band ready for you. We may or may not play every song listed at every posted appearance.

While we do like our classic rock and blues, we'll be working on some newer rock for you younger fans. Expect more very soon! Just don't expect any of the stuff you hear blasting out of the car next to you that just drove out of a high school parking lot.

The original artists listed are the names most recognized, or associated with the song. In most cases, it's also the "version" we play. Many of our favorites have been done by many artists, all of whom have done great renditions of that song. And, of course, in some cases, the original artist named is not THE original author.
