the Beast
I started out experimenting with a digital camera, trying different settings to see if I could capture the blue LEDs and inside view of my new workstation.
The results are pretty cool. In addition to understanding the new camera, I got some great shots, so I decided to post them here.
This is an awesome system which I am extremely happy with. Some of the specs and links to the OEMs are included below.
If you haven't seen my 3D Art Gallery, I have also created photo-realistic renderings of this system (and my entire office) to scale.
Work Station
The system case is an Antec 1200, with 6 blue LED lighted/adjustable RPM case fans (one is 7.5 inches in diameter) and washable air filters.
Zoom inside for a view of the Zalman CPU cooler. The CPU is the Intel i7EE (8 cores at 3.2 Ghz)
The ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard has LEDs surrounding the logo, which pulse like a "heartbeat".
The GPU is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 by BFG Tech.
The generic guts:
1200 Watt BFG Tech power supply
12 GB DDR3 RAM (6 x 2 GB)
3 TB Hard disk (2 x 1.5 TB)
2 DVDRW DVD/CD
OS: Windows XP pro 64 bit
When this system was built, the techs jokingly said that it runs like a "raped ape".
It is affectionately called "the Beast".
Custom designed and built Summer 2009 by J&B Technologies in St. Louis, Missouri. Kudos to J&B.
